Ersha Island is made up of two Chinese-Kiwi songwriters who are trying to make music that reflects their biracial upbringings. Siblings Dani and Tee create soul-pop compositions using their classical piano and violin backgrounds.
Dani & Tee began learning piano and violin at a young age. They felt like outsiders throughout their childhood; they were mixed, bilingual, constantly relocated, and never attended social gatherings outside of family or music-related events. Music was the one constant. It represents what Dani & Tee cannot describe: change, freedom, euphoria, grief, loss, and home. Their music reflects their exploration of the struggles of multicultural and immigrant identities, connecting people regardless of race, celebrating the beauty of different cultural identities.
