Reshma Martin

An Asian meets a Kiwi at a bar.

“Reshma: I use my own music to raise awareness of the social and racial inequalities that I’ve faced. I do this through various parts of my identity: from language, traditional attire etc.”

Reshma is a singer songwriter, born in Malaysia, raised in Taranaki. She blends powerhouse vocals with a variety of genres, primarily pop. She aims to add diversity to the music landscape in Aotearoa, and to create more opportunities for South East Asian artists to succeed. Accompanying her is Peter on guitar, A composer/musician who has recently turned his hand to building houses. He can appreciate a well maintained vegie garden and loves to hear a fresh verse of a poem from friends and family. He also likes playing music.
